The Area

The Country Yurt is perfectly located to visit the North, South and West coasts of Dyfed (South West Wales).  Pembrokeshire beaches are within easy reach, as are Carmarthenshire's many castles and attractions.

the farm

The yurt  is tucked away on the corner of a working Welsh farm. There is information provided in the Yurt on local walks. The local village is a short walk away with a beautiful common 'cwm' alongside a pretty river.  Please ask or have a look at the Yurt's information sheet...

beaches

Wales boasts some of the best beaches in the UK, most are blue flag and some are award winning.  Popular Barafundle Bay is nestled along the coast and on a sunny day you could be anywhere in the world. Another hidden gem is Monkston Point just beyond Saundersfoot. Tenby beach is only a short drive away and overlooked by the famous seaside town, known for its bright buildings and vintage book shops.

Llansteffan has both a beach and a castle, making it a great day out, if you keep walking around the coast you will reach Scotty's bay and lovely little private beach when the tide is coming in.  These are some of our favourites, but there are many more to visit!

castles

Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire are scattered with castles depicting the constant battles between ancient Welsh Lords and the English.  Carreg Castell Cennen is one of Wales' intriguing castles, don't forget your torch so you can explore the limestone cave/dungeon which lies beneith it.  Laugharne is home to the famous Welsh writer Dylan Thomas, you can visit his inspirational Boat House as well as the castle.  Pembrokeshire has some of the most well preserved castles in Wales, Carew Castle is one of these.  Cilgerran Castle in Ceredigion is said to be one of the most beautiful in Wales.

the coast and boat trips

If you would like some beautiful routes to walk, Pembrokeshires Southern Coastal Path is rugged and breathtaking, full of sheer cliffs, stacks and natural arches.  Boat trips are availale to see dolphin, porpoise, seals and whales; boats regularly leave from Tenby harbour. You can take a day trip to Caldey Island, the home of Cisterian monks,  Skomer Island is home to hundreds of puffins and Ramsey Island is renown for its wildlife tour. Taking a boat trip is one way to visit some of the most beautiful parts of the country.
